I haven't read all 400+ new postings on the Microsoft thread (nor do I intend to), but after reading a sample of them I would say the Microsoft supporters seem to be in severe denial -- as if the judge's findings are of no consequence and only an appeals court ruling is significant.

There are three problems with that, IMHO:

(1) I would expect the appeals court to give deference to the trial judge's evaluation of the credibility of witnesses, and I doubt the DOJ overlooked presenting evidence on any essential point; and

(2) The longer Microsoft drags things out, the longer their shareholders will suffer under a cloud and distraction, whether they ultimately win or not (even though I still do not think the trial is the main factor making their stock lethargic). This can also have repercussions for their compensation scheme, and thus their earnings, thus potentially causing a positive feedback spiral downwards; and

(3) The negative PR could be huge.

But that's JMHO, and neither legal nor investment advice.
