Jason: That will not work as who is going to be the competition in the O/S area where the judge insists is where MSFT has the monopoly? Additionally the competition will be forever claiming clandestine collusion between the separated companies. Will we have a DOJ political officer (ala USSR) resident in each company? Unfortunately you cannot wish up competition by judicial fiat. Many elude to Standard Oil as an example. Does anyone here see a great difference in the price you pay when going from one of the ex-Standard oil companies to another? Regarding the ATT breakup, my phone bill went up not down as what was gained in long distance savings was lost on local and in state toll calls. Those with big ld bills benefitted while the little guy got hammered. I made a good piece of change as a shareholder, although it took a while for Wall Streeet to wake up to the fact that the parts were worth more separated than the whole. On the other hand, the little man, that the government was supposedly protecting, gained nothing. JFD
