Jim: <regarding me stopping my posts> I think you are saying that my posts don't really add to a constructive discussion here. I have been open here, about what I am doing now, and what I have done in the past.
Although you make extensive comments about this stock, can you honestly say that you have not missed other major moves in the market this year, and if so, that you have no regrets? There are many here, such as yourself, who have gigantic capital gains positions in Dell. Many such persons are mostly interested in whether Dell will sort of hold its own in terms of just maintaining their present huge gains. You have not seemed to me, to be like that. You are always inquiring, enjoying quality posts, and trying to learn more.
Some here have not diversified. Others here are not as concerned, as you seem to be, that other major stocktrends, are discussed here. There are more than just a few really respected members of this thread, who make constructively stated comments, about what they are doing elsewhere.
And then there are many persons who have left this thread, because it can be very boring. Euphoria can be very boring, when major parts of the market are headed elsewhere. Euphoria can also lose you alot of money; were you sufficiently hedged at February earnings (sounds like you were--congratulations--my entire 66,000 shares were protected by covered calls, but I bought back those calls, the morning of earnings). Can you honestly openly say that you were not influenced against your investment interests, by the euphoria on this thread in January-February?
Also, I am so busy in the rest of my life, that I simply don't have the time to join several threads; I have always enjoyed regulars here, and have always learned the MOST from persons I "meet" here, being open about when and why they are diversifying. I have the most respect for those persons. There is absolutely no "dell only" loyalty test here.
I believe in buy and hold but in not ignoring the realties of the rest of the market. Personally, I happen to be temporarily doing buy and hold with real estate, and not the market. I will continue however, with or without your approval, to try to cut into the conversation here, when it is basically cheerleading. Or whenever I have a comment which might make this thread more well rounded. As opposed to some others, who get basically disgusted, and just leave this thread.
I have met alot of wonderful people here, including yourself. I am surprised, given your incredibly sharp mind and consistently capable and constructive posts, that you basically tell me, that on balance, I do not add to this thread, at this time.
Maybe you'd rather limit the thread to those who have passed some test, in your mind.
I do not understand qcom, or its market, nor do I have the time to start now. The same goes for the internet stocks, for me. Dell I have some understanding of, so I have always felt secure trying to relate to the conversations here.
Keep up the good work; I read, study, and copy most of your posts.
