Mike, you know I haven't forgotten the front office game with all the panic buying going on in the Nasdaq. ;-) There have been a lot of interesting, almost 'spam' like posts on the Internet about Onyx as of late. I guess we should conclude that Frei has studied Ellison's wing flapping school of flight. Almost sounds like a case of a 'monkey', but I don't think a monkey can exist in the enterprise application arena.
I'm hoping the power of the market's need, desire, and want to go higher won't be spoiled too long by the Microsoft knee-jerk reaction. I'm guilty as charged with my LTB&H shares of MSFT that have been collecting dust for all these years. I can't time it and long ago made my decision to go ahead and hold through the trial, regardless. Now that a stiffer sniff of reality is at hand, the think long term mantra is being chanted in my household. Boy, would I hate to see a rash of DOJ action pointed towards our list of gorilla type investments. If memory serves me correctly, they did speak with Intel earlier this year and things were ironed out between them. I guess worse case scenario, would be some sort of precedent being set that brings all sorts of ugly mongers out of the closet to 'cash in' on the system.
By the way - excellent post on the importance of 'just starting' in terms of investing. I think we all know a few family members and friends that we wish would 'just start'.
Quite a day for me yesterday in terms of the name Joel. First, in a PM with thread member Joel Yagoda we find we share something in common. Second, Joel Klein's pate shines its ugly luster last night. Third, and most unique for me involves my arrival at rehearsal last night. I sing the father in Hansel and Gretel and it's that time of year again for it to appear in the repertoire. This means the cast has a few rehearsals together to brush up the staging, oil the rusty parts and make sure we know the music before we perform it next week being that the last performance was December, '98. I walked into the rehearsal room and recognized everyone except the conductor. So the first thing to do is introduce yourself and give a hearty handshake because he's the one that makes or breaks your performance. To make the story shorter, the conductor is Billy Joel's brother. Who would have ever thought that Billy Joel's brother is an opera conductor? Small world. That's my memory of yesterday. It was dominated by the name Joel.
