Sorry for any missunderstanding. About the 'chain' problem: "what is the minimum numbers of links you can cut...?" That is, if you will get the chains 12, 1, 4, you cut only ONE link (the 'middle' one), and if you get 10, 3, 4 you cut TWO (your choice of which). Interesting, huh?
