If this were any other country in the world, those governments would be kissing Mr. Gates feet for the business/jobs/wealth that he created. Only in America. They have to be laughing at us.

I would be laughing if i was not an investor--and lived in Europe or Asia. The US government just does not get it. MSFT has protected America's dominance in this industry. Otherwise it would have gone the same route as the consumer electronics did. I still believe that foreign governments/companies don't consider Intel much of a threat as the CPU does not interface with the user but Windows and Office is another story.
Additionally, I don't believe any other government will go after Microsoft because they don't have to. The US government is doing it for them.
I think Kodak, automakers etc... should have been brought in to talk to the DOJ/States (behind the scenes of course).

I was a bit of a socialist (still am in some ways) but i am realizing that the capitalist economy with minimal interference is the way to go. Unfortunately, we have the Clintonista (as the Blankone would have put) trying to screw things up. They are not guilty alone---Orin Hatch and his friends are no help.
