Haim, all of the analysis I have seen this morning still focuses on (1) the break-up aspect of any remedy, and (2) this was all "priced in", and (3) this is only the "first inning" of the game.

It appears though that MSFT is in more trouble than you think. Softie had the best attorneys and lobbyists and still lost this case (at least thus far). They tried to be too smart by two it seems. This was the opening of Pandora's Box.

The 19 state's attorneys general were not in this case to see softie busted into 3 companies - they were in the case for the $$, BIG $$. Now the other 31 states will get involved. In addition, every competitor who was harmed by softie's ILLEGAL conduct will also sue (Apple, Sun, etc. plus every other small software company that got smashed by Gates). The legal fees alone will run into the tens of millions of dollars, plus the lost productivity of employees sitting in endless depositions.
