Merrill Lynch assumed coverage on Compaq Computer (CPQ: news, msgs)
with a "neutral" rating and a long-term "accumulate" outlook. The brokerage
said the PC maker is hampered by "inferior manufacturing and distribution
model." Merrill does forecast overall revenue growth of 11 percent over the
next few years.
