I concur totally.
Some more food for thought:
There is no question that size is an advantage. However, Microsoft has kept themselves nimble, despite their growing size. This is why they beat their competitors at the same game. They move quickly, and by the 3rd time around, have a better product - and people buy it.
In a world of Mega-mergers more Titans will be playing against smaller competitors. Lucent - Ascend, Worldcom - Sprint, etc. This is reality folks.
Consumers, markets and business have made their choices. MSFT rules the PC marketspace. AOL and YHOO rule the online world, INTC rules the chip space, CISCO rules the networking arena. Is the DOJ going to chase everyone and stagnate growth????? Lets get real.
Being first to market has obvious inherent advantages, and the companies above are prime examples.
IF the DOJ screws with MSFT, they have bitten off far more than can be chewed. These people have ZERO concept of the pace at which technology moves, changes, and is contributing to society. It is truly scary. |
