Back when I collected books, I used to collect old medical texts, and cookbooks, as well as Louisiana stuff. Of course a lot of people collect cookbooks, but then, a lot of cookbooks are printed, so it's not a difficult subject to collect some very interesting books. One of the sad experiences of my life was taking one of my great-grandmother's cookbooks to LSU to show to a friend and having it stolen when I went to the bathroom. I think trying to find a replacement is what got me into old bookstores, although, as much as I like to read, used books have always been a cheaper alternative, and then the books in the glass cases start beckoning.

The cookbook that was stolen had a section on making all kinds of interesting things, and I wanted to make an aeolian harp. I hope some day I find a replacement so I can give it to my mother; the one that was stolen was hers. I've been looking for 25 years. Have no idea what the title was.
