Chinese-made goods amaze me, too. They are so incredibly cheap, and the quality gets better all the time. I wonder how much time Chinese assembly workers spend doing stuff like lighting shop towels and throwing them at each other. I hope they do crazy stuff like that once in a while, just for fun, but my gut feeling is that they never do.

The other thing that amazes me about Chinese stuff is how unnecessary most of it is. We used to get a catalogue of party favors, no idea how we got on that list, but it would be things to hand out like in party bags, or to throw at Mardi Gras, colorful but useless, pages and pages of stuff that cost pennies. I used to have a large chest full of useless plastic objects the kids had accumulated over the years, handed out with Happy Meals and such, amazing stuff, all made in China. I wonder what the Chinese think about it?
