To All, A great Breeders' Cup today. My net outcome at the window was slightly positive, but not a big winner. However, the races themselves were extremely exciting. 1. I caught the first exacta, with Beautiful Pleasure and Silverbulletday over those two plus Banshee Breeze. The $23 payoff paid for that ticket and the trifecta and gave me $3 for a brew. 2. My exacta and trifecta did diddly on this race, but I had a $2 win ticket on Cash Run that was my best payoff of the day. My figuring was that Lukas said he was going to use him as a rabbit, but you don't put Jerry Bailey on a rabbit. At 30-1 and a track that favors early speed, I figured he was good for the $2 spec. He was the rabbit and he kept on hopping all the way to the finish line. <g>
3. Got squashed in the Mile, making nary a cent.
4. I lost again in the Sprint and my visions of my genius were starting to fade. <g>
5. I had Soaring Softly as my winner, but it was a "kiss your sister" payoff. And I couldn't buy the Exacta. Didn't play the tri.
6. The handicapper in The Houston Chronicle picked Aness in the Juvenile. I had a good laugh when I read it. I had a good cry after the race.
7. I bet on Yagli and he was still a dud.
8. In the Classic, my Tris and Exactas were flushed down the toilet, but I bet across the board on Cat Thief as a spec and it helped me pay the toll on the way home. The Trifecta was $36,000, and, though I had the longshot winner, there was no way in the world I would have picked the place and show three-legged wonders.
Lots of fun. |
