To the thread:

I just returned home from "Microsoft eXtreme." For those who haven't heard of it, MS does it twice yearly as a roll-out promo of their new software. They rent theatres across the nation and do a live satellite feed. About 15 thousand saw it countrywide this afternoon.

Well MS tries real hard not to promote or mention the names of other manufacturers products including hardware. As a matter of fact, they were showing a version of their new "Streets & Trips" software for use on an HP handheld with Windows CE and never made mention of HP.

So wasn't I surprised when the guy pulls a CF card out of his shirt pocket (he called it "flash ROM"?), pops it into what was obviously a Sandisk USB Imagemate plugged into his laptop, and then displays Windows Explorer on the screen. Well, you know what happens in Explorer, it treats the CF as a drive and boom --- suddenly it shows the CF and say "SanDisk" under it. Not only that, he says "and there it is, Sandisk." The guy opens up the CF by clicking on it, clicks on a file and guess what, a Windows Media Player screen pops up and a music video starts playing in the Windows Media Player screen. He makes a point of how great the video quality is.

Well, it was only about 30 seconds out of a 2 hour presentation, but I for one got a real kick out of it. It was the only time any company name was mentioned other than MS.
