A friend of mine has a system which I find interesting (but haven't copied myself yet). When he finds a good stock and makes a profit and gets out, he leaves his profit. That means he only sells enough to get his orignal money, commisions, and maybe a bit more. That often leaves him with 5 or 10 shares of the stock he though was good. Often a stock that seems good is really great, and although he doesn't own much he benefits (and is reminded to look at their progress because they are in his portfolio). If he sells because it was not as good as he anticipated, he sells it all.
