1. Barksdale is a cry baby. He missed the big picture of turning Netscape into Yahoo. He was way over paid for missing the big picture while at Netscape (he went to the DoJ to cry ... instead of seeing Yahoo). The man has his limitations, it's a shame.

2. Apple should have put its MAC OS on the Intel PC platform and turned itself into an OS software company in the 1980s. If Apple did that we would not have Windows today (becasue DOS was a dog). Microsoft was lucky, very lucky (because Windows98 is still a dog to this day).

3. WordPerfect bet on OS2 and missed the Windows transition (from DOS to Windows). Microsoft, with Word, won fair and square.

4. Lotus123 bet on OS2 and missed the Windows transition (from DOS to Windows). Microsoft won, with Excel, fair and square.

5. IBM was clueless when it went to Digital Research for an OS for the PC. Gates was clueless for sending IBM to Digital Research. Digital Research was clueless when they turned IBM away. Gates promised an OS for the PC to IBM *before* he bought DOS for $50,000 (brilliant businessman -- made the deal of the Century!). IBM, cluelessly, created Microsoft. The rest this history.

Everything else is noise (including this current law suit).
