Mike,

>>The handicapper in The Houston Chronicle picked Aness in the
Juvenile. I had a good laugh when I read it. I had a good cry after the race.<<

All season long the CA 2 year olds have been running very fast and impressively. When any of them shipped out they won big. (High Yield, Cap. Stevie and others) So I was looking for someone to hook up with Dixie Union and Forest Camp. Aness finished third in the last prep and was improving rapidly. I had the exactas using him all picked out as the value horse. I didn't pull the trigger, (I would have lost) but he did not surprise me. He was getting better and bred to go long.

>> Cat Thief as a spec and it helped me pay the toll on the way home. The Trifecta was $36,000, and, though I had the longshot winner, there was no way in the world I would have picked the
place and show three-legged wonders.<<

We would have made a great team here. I had the second horse at that price. I thought he was huge overlay. He just beat General Challenge who was 5-1. He also had a huge second against Real Quiet a couple of races back. I certainly didn't make him the favorite, but I thought he had a legit shot.

The track looked speed favoring. I think that may have impacted a few races. Banshee Breeze, Kona Gold/Big Jag, and Surfside might have been winners. We'll never know.
