There is no strong uptick in commodities demand in Asia yet, says Mr Henderson.
But this is not because there has been a sudden change in the pattern of Asian
manufacturing a sudden move up the technological tree. Rather, it is because
industrial production is now just getting back to pre-1997 levels in the fastest-growing
Asian economies.

What still exists in Asia is excess industrial capacity, and once OECD growth
begins to acclerate so too will capacity utilisation, commodity demand and the
Australian dollar.
