I happen to shy away from a lot of bass energy. What I really like about the Maggies is that the bass is not boomy or boxy as it is with dynamic (cone driver) speakers we mortals can hope to afford. But even while the bass is a bit muted, it is very crisp and real in character. And midrange clarity and imaging are, like, yeah baby!
But to get it right, the Maggies need a pretty clean room setup. And now that we have a toddler and another on the way, they're unceremoniously stacked in a corner.
I need a bigger house.

I am actually driving my Maggies with a 50 watt per channel NAD receiver. It ain't bad! I'd love to upgrade to a "real" preamp and amp (in my fevered dreams Pass Labs has my affections - with thier no-nonsense class-A "Borg Cube" designs), but here there's no dealer to audition them) but I'm a Daddy now. Toys can wait.

For your abusement ...
