EMC VS QCOM

Mike and thread. Please give me your thoughts. I have owned EMC since it was at $7 and, against all rules, I know I have an emotional attachment. It is also a customer so I make part of my living selling to the company-- and I have had occasion to have a beer with 2 of its Board of Directors. But, now I am pondering whether to trade it all in for QCOM. Post split I would end up with about the same number of shares.

I think EMC will continue to do well but if the thread is correct it is a royalty game and subject to quick hits from competitors. I guess that in my quest to accumulate enough to join the ranks of the self employed I am trying to decide which will be quicker to double again. In my heart I think it is QCOM although last week's run may make it vulnerable in the short run. And, selling EMC will result in significant tax ramifications.

Any and all thoughts would be appreciated. I understand, though, that I am responsible for my own decisions.
