No Need to Buy - Customers Can Use App Over the Internet

When AgencyWorks - an alliance between Ascensus Insurance
Services and AMS Services - was looking for a market for
its customer management software targeted at life insurance
brokers, it found a broad potential customer base in small
brokerages and those needing a quick solution to unsolved
Y2K problems. To get its software to these customers
quickly in a delivery mechanism they could afford,
AgencyWorks decided to Web-enable Ascensus's powerhouse
green-screen, RPG application and then host it themselves,
letting customers use it over the Internet without having
to buy the software.

Yesterday, the company announced AgencyIntegrator, a
software service based on Ascensus's original application.
AMS used CST?s Jacada to give the RPG code a prettier, more
intuitive front end. AgencyIntegrator manages customer
accounts and case information. AgencyWorks hosts the
application at the Questar Business Continuity Center in
Salt Lake City on an AS/400e 720 hooked to a Sun Solaris
server that runs the Java client interface and serves Web
pages. The company expects 1,500 users this year and plans
to add more AS/400s and Web servers as demand increases.
