The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), will be open for trading on November 9 despite a holiday declared by the Maharashtra state government, exchange officials said today. The state government in an official notice issued on Friday said it had shifted the November 8 holiday for Diwali to November 9 while the holiday on November 10 was left unchanged. But officials at the two exchanges said trading will take place on Tuesday. While BSE will be closed on Monday and Wednesday, the NSE will remain closed only on Monday. The NSE's wholesale debt market will however, remain closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Banks and financial markets in Mumbai will be open on Monday and will be closed the next two days following the state government notice. The Delhi Stock Exchange is scheduled to be closed on Monday. It will conduct a special trading session to mark Diwali between 7 pm and 8.30 pm on Sunday. The Calcutta Stock Exchange will hold a special Diwali session between 7 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. on Sunday, and will remain closed on Monday, stock exchange officials said. It will be open on Tuesday but will be closed again on Wednesday.(Probity)
