Ice, Gottfried,

Just wanted to share some experience....maybe it reflects on the skang incident at the CRUS thread.

A long time ago, I made a gaffe on a thread. It was not close in scope to skang's -- I never said, "hey my company's going under, sell it or short it" but all the same, I was pretty stupid. Lucky for me, it never went past the thread (unlike the skang incident). I can only speak for me, but reading between the lines of skang's subsequent responses, I'll bet his situation was a bit like mine.

At the time, I was sort of new to the net and REALLY new to public forums. And not being very mature about it all, I got crazy intoxicated with the whole idea of the being able to spout off to the world 'cuz I thought I had something relevant to say. Sort of like "being in on a secret" and you just can't wait to tell someone. WOW! You can type your words, and then look at them for all the world to see! All pretty innocent -- no malice, just fun...just pretending to be important (whilst in reality, being not). Now mind you, there ARE malicious people on these threads (I think).

Too bad I can't think of an accurate way for seperating the two. Skang's "sell it" post -- just the raw sentences could easily read as if from a malicious, evil twit....or from an intoxicated newbie. If you could distinguish between the two, an effective course for the newbie would be what happened to me. When I had my self-created "15 minutes", somebody on the thread was kind enough to say, "you may not realize how dumb you are right now, but think for a minute about the look on your boss' face if somebody emailed him your post" Believe me, I've never put myself in that situation again! In fact, I actually lurked for a long time afterward and watched how more experienced people post -- learned a sort of protocol.

I never meant any harm and never would have deserved "job harm" -- I just didn't "get it" that posts can cause a "perceived harm" such as the subsequent whinings from "burned" investors on the CRUS thread. As for skang, only he knows for sure, but for whatever reason, I feel like his situation was more like mine -- just newbie immaturity that could have been fixed with a simple "big brother" post. I don't have much sympathy for those "burned" investors on CRUS. IMO, they were as monetarily irresponsible as skang was verbally irresponsible. But there you have it. How do we accurately seperate the really malicious ones? Here's the plan: we'll throw the witch into the lake and if she floats.....:>

BTW...the 'kooks' thread is a really great idea. But I must take a strong objection to the word 'kooks' -- I'm very pissed and offended. It should be the 'dorks' thread or the 'idiots' thread or the 'jerk-offs' thread....anything but 'kooks' <lol>
