Zeev! I made this very point a few months back now:

<soapbox-OT> The SEC should mandate that short interest be reported daily for all NYSE and NNM issues. It can and should be done this way. Current computers and networks can easily accomplish this. They say it is "such a big job" - it could all be virtually completely automated. I say the short interest should be reported daily and be out by 7pm every trading day (later when market hours are extended-if they are extended). </soapbox-OT>

There is no excuse for the present state of short interest reporting. Now, what can you and I do about it? And I mean that question seriously, not rhetorically.

Back on topic: what is your TA say for RMBS? My guess is that with Nov options expiring 19th and rumors about release on 15th, we will be moving up over the next 1 to 2 weeks - then probably back down.
