Ah, taro, speaking of performance comparisons,
How has GALT stock performed compared to PMCS year to date? Over the past few years?
Yep, I sure remember PMCS announcing getting into the GE space, it spooked me.
I was thrilled when they announced their exit. Let's see, compressed product cycles rapid commoditization and all of the typical ugliness associated with the LAN infrastructure business. The investment community doesn't know the difference between WAN semi companies and LAN semi companies....yet.
Now I don't know how much GALT gets from the GE space, but if it's material, I would be very scared right now. Seems to me that copper based GE is coming and the freight train is being driven by the monsters over at Broadcom. $30 for a two chip copper set? Ouch!
I seem to remember last week Broadcom management specifically citing GALT and MMCN as the decaying third tier in the communication semiconductor companies. Wonder what else they have in store?
BD, perhaps it's time to consider GALT as a potential short. What's their LAN Vs. WAN product mix? Any big customer/product dependency?
It's just an instinct now, Taro, but I'd bet with a one year timeframe PMCS stock outperforms GALT.
