Sun Microsystems/Novell/Corel Alliance !!!!

I was reading an article on Novell in the March 29th issue of The Economist. It goes on to mention Novell's troubles and how they bought WordPerfect for $1.4 billion and later sold it to Corel for $200 million. The most interesting points in the article are; according to IDC Research,Windows NT was out selling Novell's Netware by the end of last year, and on March 19th, Eric Schmidth, was appointed CEO of Novell. Eric Schmidth is (or was) Sun's Chief Technical Officer.

This raises a number of questions. Is Mr Schmidth going to Novell to clear the way for a Sun takeover of Novell? If Sun does take over Novell, what will happen to Novell's 10% stake in Corel? Are there any synergies to a Sun/Novell/Corel alliance that would help in battling IBM and Microsoft?
