To all: I called investor relations today. If anything I will get the full investor relations package in the mail shortly. Also, I was told that Carrington sold his shares simply to cash in on some profit that had not been present in the past few years while he headed IMP. News is also that IOMEGA will be shopping (if not already) for a second Zip-chip supplier so as to not have too many eggs in one basket. IOMEGA demand for the Zip-chip i was told is high. High volume is the word! Nothing said though about IMP not being able to meet demand -- I repeat "nothing".
Also, here is the IMP News Release from today:
BusinessWire Press Release:
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 1996--IMP, Inc. today announced long term alliances with Orion Design Technologies, Inc. of Portsmouth, N.H., and Plato Labs, Inc., of San Jose in an effort to expand IMP's analog design capabilities for mass storage and Electrically Programmable Analog Circuit (EPAC) devices. According to Jerry DaBell, vice president of product development and applications at IMP, "By taking advantage of the many years of experience of both Orion and Plato, we can immediately multiply our effective design resources. With the current shortage of experienced circuit design engineering personnel, it would have taken us several months, perhaps years, to gain as much talent by hiring internally. We look forward to working closely with these two leading design houses to continue to develop innovative analog/mixed-signal products." Orion, with 60 years of collective experience, performs contract design work in disk drive products, automotive electronics, and high speed logic. "IMP's internal design staff has excellent analog and mixed-signal design skills. We look forward to augmenting their activities in the interesting and challenging area of developing new products for their mass-storage business unit." said Dr. Paul Latham, president of Orion. Plato Labs, with more than 50 years of collective experience, has a broad background in analog and mixed-signal design projects, including complex data acquisition devices, wireless communications, audio and instrumentation applications. "Plato is excited about its collaboration with IMP. We are convinced that our strong analog/mixed-signal expertise will boost IMP's efforts in launching new application-specific integrated circuits, particularly the development of the EPAC programmable analog circuit family," said Dr. Joseph Babanezhad, president of Plato Labs. IMP, Inc. (NASDAQ:IMPX) is a leading supplier of high- integration and programmable, analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for computer, communications and control applications. IMP is a technology leader in the field of complex analog signal processing circuits. It is also the inventor of the Electrically Programmable Analog Circuit (EPAC), the analog counterpart to the digital field programmable gate array (FPGA). Except for historical information contained herein, the matters discussed in this news release are forward looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties, including demand by end-users of products produced by the Company's customers and the other risks detailed in the Company's SEC reports, including the Current Report on Form 8-K dated April 26, 1996, Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for quarter ended Dec. 31, 1995 and Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for quarter ended Sept. 24, 1995.

I believe IMP will ride up back again. For those of us who bought before the last ride up and didn't sell only to watch it come back down and for those who bought during the past highs, patience is the name of the game. This is a great buying opportunity if anything. Apparently there are two anlysists monitoring IMP -- sorry left their names on my office desk and their info will be in the investor package -- I'll report more news when I get it.
Takes a licking (or beating) and keeps on ticking.
Today, my friends, was correction day!
It was dark today but I'm begining to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And hey, does anyone else see the possibility of more Zip-chip products coming out of today's announcement? Could we see a IMP Zip-chip for the 1 or 5 MB JAZ disks?
Regards,
Erik.
