Thanks, John. I have a paper Bulletin handy.

The article "Optoelectronic Properties and Applications of Rare-Earth-Doped GaN" by Steckl and Zavada looks interesting for display applications. Here's what they're working on, from page 37:

If two or more RE elements incorporated into GaN emit in the visible simultaneously, the human eye would perceive an additive mixture of the colors. It should be possible to adjust the relative concentrations of the RE dopants in GaN, and hence the intensities of the corresponding wavelengths, so that the mixture would produce any color throughout the visible spectrum.

That would be 'The right light from ELD'. <g>

The cover photo is a collage of these electroluminescent devices, demonstrating the three primary colors (red, green, and blue from Eu, Er, and Tm) and an additive color (turquoise from Er + Tm). Nice!
