Darrell, RE: are you speaking from a position of knowledge or guessing?

Regarding the Street's beliefs, from a position of knowledge, at least concerning the people that I talk to. Regarding DELL management, purely a guess.

the DRAM pricing issues were spot pricing issues for sales above expectations - they purchased the addtl dram at the higher prices in order to fill the higher sales.

I realize that this is what is currently being represented. But if this is the case, DELL shouldn't have issued a warning at all, because they would have gotten the income that everybody expected because they got the 'normal; margins' from the expected sales, and they got the reduced margins from the sales that you refer to. Which would mean that they will report net income well in excess of the old expectations this coming Thursday. If this is true, then DELL management was playing games with the analysts, and should never have issued a warning in the first place.

I don't believe that scenario is true. We'll all know a little more this Thursday.
