Sure. But if Kim was going to Florida, and planning to stay there for at least a week, then what? Chalem was joining her; there wasn't any staff at the Colts Neck house.

But Chalem and Kimberly evidently traveled quite a bit between New Jersey and Florida, so it's possible that as jhild suggested, Jeff went to a private school. He may always have boarded there, or may have been able to board there when his parents were away.
