An unexpected but historically very probably near future msft response to the recent course of events would be for msft to pursue a unix/linux derivative for 98/NT. In the same grain as its past java development effort, this new thing would (1) not work, (2) be designed to confuse, and in the end, (3) promote 98/NT.
