And gee I wonder who was?: "POWAY, Calif. (Dow Jones)--After the Justice Department confirmed Friday it's investigating possible price-fixing in the graphite industry, graphite golf shaft maker Aldila Inc. (ALDA) sought to reassure the market that it's not a target of the investigation.
Aldila said it was substantially a purchaser, not a seller, of carbon fiber during the period in question. Carbon fiber, or graphite, is a reinforcement for plastics used in golf clubs, tennis rackets and other sporting goods, as well as airplanes.
In a press release Wednesday, Aldila said it received verbal assurance from the Justice Department that it's not a target of the grand jury probe at this time, though the company has received a subpoena. Aldila also said it's not a defendant in any class action lawsuits and that none of its manufacturing facilities have been raided by the federal goverment. |
