As I noted elsewhere, I myself would have recognized his name while reading, but might have blanked if ambushed, because it is not the foremost thing on my mind right now. I know a lot about foreign policy, and other things, but I have been preoccupied the last few months, and not following foreign news as closely as I did during the Kosovo crisis. A presidential candidate is expected to answer questions on a myriad of topics he cannot possibly be expert on, while at the same time raising money, campaigning, spending some time with his family, and performing the duties of the office currently held. When briefed, his advisors would make sure that he had a grasp of the fundamental situation, but would not sweat the details, especially in an evolving situation.... |
