Anybody who can comment on this, from one of our anonymous sources?: "This is not an emotional personal issue this is a technology issue which I would like to share with all of you, as this may give you all a better prospective on understanding the difference between one individual i.e..the C.E.O. of MSTR hyping technology that does not exist and the reality of what does. Lets start at the beginning, MSTR are a good successful company that was founded on the idea of providing department database analysis to corporations who wanted to discover the most complex detailed answers of thier data, i.e..food retailers. They have been very successful at this over the last 10 years and grown the company year on year. In the last 18 moths they realised that they would become marginalized if they did not expand thier product offering outside of the corporate department and outside of the enterprise to go global. With strategy.com they attempt to do this with No infrastructure or technology to achieve their wild claims of the Virtual Personalized Information Network, it does not exist! What you all need to understand is that the architecture of thier technology, they developed a dynamic SQL generation engine that is expert at creating very complex detailed SQL to query relational databases with unlimited numbers of dimensions and attribute to any one question. This is nearly unique in the world of Rolap technology and is the main reason they are who they are today, most of thier competitors are OLAP vendor who use mutidimentinal cubes to query relational databases which are very limited in the type and sophistication of questions they can ask of a relational DB, cubes can not drill down to the deep level of detail that MSTR can achieve. The reason I explain all this is MSTR technology is based on polling messages on scheduled updates or event based alerts. What this means is that if an adhoc or scheduled event happens it updates each field in the database which in turn updates each query requested by and individual. The following points listed below are the fundamental reason why MSTR technology wonwok. more.... cont... 1.MSTR has a polling technology that can only serve 1000's of users and not millions as they state, they should of adopted a true multicast broadcast middle-ware technology, where you would only need to broadcast a message once to millions of individuals who had subscribed to that information. MSTR have to run a query against the database for each individual so this would require millions of processes for millions of customers, this is not possible with thier architecture. 2. MSTR was founded on the notion of providing very detailed complex analysis of internal databases for the corporate, Strategy.com is providing one dimensional data that requires very little analysis to the end user which most content providers can do at a whim. MSTR still have to run each query for each individual even though there is no real analysis taking place because of their polling architecture. 3.MSTR recently launch thier WAP platform (wireless application protocol) this is bog standard stuff, any e-com company can do the same, MSTR's voice, fax, email, mobile phone, PDA out puts can be performed by any e-com or content provider as they are using standard gateway technology available to any company. 4.MSTR only have 2 information channels in oporation today the investment channel and the weather channel. Both of these services are remedial and basic, if you went to schwab and the weather channel you would have more information which can also be pushed to you. They still do not have the additional 5 or 7 channels that they keep talking about. 5. MSTR do not understand global networks or infrastructure as they are relying on the slow internet to deliver thier information which will not scale. They want companies to sign up to an exclusive information network but it does not exist. 6.MSTR do not have a broadcast technology as thier product broadcaster would suggest, it still uses polling and it not an invented patented middle-ware technology it is hoax. What you should all do is ask the relevant technology analysts to question MSTR about the points raised here as they should have real concern. There is allot more information I could share with you but this message is already to long." |
