Steve, your two cents are tarnished.

First, the licensing issue was discussed at length about a year ago on this thread. I seem to remember that a price of $2-$4/unit was about what could be expected. Lets take $3/unit as an example and multiply that by, lets say 20 million, (I will take into account the probability of ADSL making its way into set top boxes and HDTV sets as well as computer related units), that comes to $60 million. Do you think that 20 million units is to high a number for one company to garner? Amati has also stated that it expects, and hopes I guess, that its licensing royalties will fund future R&D.

Second, you state, "Motorola and TI can sell their DMT chips to anyone."

What do you mean by this statement? Do you imply that AMTX will not get anything from the selling of MOT and TI chips? You would be right if the company who buys the chips uses NON-STANDARD DMT with them.

Third, you state again, "ADSL works at it's reported rates on distances of approx 1 mile or less from the Telco CO. It further requires connection at the CO with a compatible ADSL modem. For consumers, a safe, versatile (and relatively inexpensive) choice of modem will be ones that offer everything. It doesn't seem that AMTX will do this."

CAP and NON-STANDARD DMT have severe limitations going beyond 12,000 ft, it has been PROVEN that Amati's DMT implementation is far superior up to a distance of 18,000 ft. AMTX does have an end to end solution.

Fourth, YES AMTX is working with a little company called SourceComm on ATM integration.

No animosity intended, just setting the record straight.

Regards,

tc
