The Snap is just the start to nifty little SOHO servers where your files are local to you and not out on someone else's server. And you can still get at those files from remote locations using the web. I think, as the storage size increases on these small servers, that they may appear more secure (by the user) than the xdrive. Also, the Snap should prove to be the foundation of home wired and wireless networks. It would be nice to see them add SMTP to handle e-mail - but today's ISP's might not like that.
