SUN/EMC Deal? Text from Informationweek November 1st edition, IT Confidential page:

EMC president and CEO Mike Ruettgers has always talked about four core infrastructure vendors: Oracle for the database, Cisco for networking, HP for the operating system and servers, and, of course, EMC for storage. This year, however, HP partnered with Hitachi Data Systems to market a storage system it could put the HP label on. So last week, Ruettgers again cited a core Big 4, but now the server and operating-system company is Sun Microsystems. Add to that the fact that Sun's storage strategy is in a flux, and a partnership between the two vendors makes sense. If a deal is cut, what happens to Sun's storage line? Stay tuned.
