Looks like there are some existing "package" players here ... aside from the old do-it-yourself format that built the web in the first place.

Three things ... the drop, routing/presence, distribution.

Various alternatives for each ... standard net toplogy stuff.

See the wonderful Last Mile thread for beaucoup information on assorted distribution solutions ranging from wireless to full fiber ... lots of choices, eh? Your results may vary ... based on subscriber density, etc. ;-)

Get a sat drop, run an NT or Linux server, distribute w/ wireless ... bam! ... you're an ISP ... with all the headaches and joys ... maybe you run in the black ... maybe you have to be bought out when commodity extends out to you.
