Thanks Jim, maybe this makes some sense.
why I am a driven, trouble-maker person. Whenever, my gut tells me I'm being deceived, I make it a priority to check things out.
I'll try to calm down I'll try to tone down my anti-fundamentalist drum. I believe that in the majority of the history of Christianity, the church has been corrupted by political temptations. Don't want this to happen again, might be seeing it today with the Christian Coalition. That's why I want fellow Christians to think about it. Probably am too aggressive on this subject.
Creationism & Evolution Evolution is taught as fact because it is the best model that describes the data. Major forces that drive it have been observed. Mutation is a function of DNA/RNA. Natural selection has been emulated in the lab by providing selectively different environments to fruit flies. After several generations of lab isolation in different environments, fruit flies descended from the same parents choose to mate within their treatment group after the two descendant groups were recombined -- looks alot like a speciation event.
What you said "From a purely scientific point of view, neither creation nor evolution can be elevated to anything more than hypothes" was the fountainhead deception that got me going on my troublemaker crusade.
facts on Creationism Creation can never be proven or disproven, in a purely scientific sense. It uses supernatural elements that are outside the realm of science. It is a religious viewpoint. How can one prove the existence of the necessary God (who seems to want us to have faith, not absolute proof in him) The people that promote "scientific" creationism seem to be hooked up with political forces that make me very nervous.
Facts on Evolution Evolution can be disproven. For example, Darwin had no working model of a mechanism for his theory to work. (That's why Watson and Crick got a Nobel prize in 1953 for figuring out the molecular structure of DNA.) It turned out that virtually all life on this planet uses DNA mechanism! If this was not the case, evolution would have be proven false. The theory of evolution has survived numerous challanges, so it is considered a fact. More interesting data should come after DNA from entire organisms is cataloged, decyphered and compared between different species. This could potentially disprove evolution, or provide yet more empirical support for the theory.
I am interested in stocks, so I don't have much time to talk about this other interesting stuff. Good luck, God bless. |
