They're saying that Nortel might be making an important announcement in the next few days, confirmed this with a friend trader. This is far from coincidence, so close to these new Alcatel rumours to buying out Newbridge. Funny thing about Alcatel is that they do have some Canadian presence, I just saw them wiring the local University today!
