If I were M$ft, I would beware the linux revolution. It provides a lower cost, more stable platfrom for things like web appliances. For an example, check out the iToaster, from microworkz.com.

For $20 a month, you get the iToaster plus unlimited internet acces for two years. If you just want the toaster it'll run ya $200.

It's a simplified pc which runs linux and has 1 touch access to word processing, spread sheet, internet, financial program, etc.

Another area where M$ft will lose internet access machine market share is to the consoles. The new nintendos, playstations and dreamcasts all can surf the web. Over the next five years, as these machines and digital TV become more common, the console-TV platform will become a major internet force.
