Since I was first introduced to Citrix and saw it work (about a year ago) and used it to support a couple of applications (about six months ago) I've thought it was the most amazing piece of software I had ever seen. And I thought it was going to be at the center of a rapidly growing segment of the technology industry. But, I noticed that in press accounts of Citrix (until recently anyway) and in reviews of their software, it seemed to be treated as a niche software that did what it did well but wasn't going to shake the IS world as we know it. My point, poorly articulated, is that with these two recent events, its fundamental quality might finally be appreciated by a broader group of investors and we'd see that reflected in their stock price. For example, Qualcomm is apparently seeing its stock price skyrocket because they control CDMA. I think ICA is just as important, if not more so, and even its competitors (Java) probably work better working with it rather than without it. I worry less about the downside volatility that we've been living with this year because I so strongly believe in the technology. I'm even more excited, as an investor, by its upside potential generated in part by the recent additions to its story.
