Gerald,

I don't believe in absurdity in the same manner as you, Gerald.
Linux is open, the source is available to anyone who wants
to look at it, the c libs are standardized as are the compilers.
They are all free of charge last time I checked.

That means that apps developers are all privy to the same
source code and that they can write their apps to it without
worrying about whether or not RedHat is going to publish their
own apps with secret O/S interfaces that either insures a
superior product for RedHat (makes them more money) or
insures that the 3rd party developers have serious problems
running on Linux. You see, with open source that problems
can't happen.
