ASCEND REPORTS Q197 RESULTS
Ascend Communications reported quarterly revenues of
US$202.4 million, up 120% over the same period last year.
Net income for the quarter was US$46.3 million, or US$0.36
per share, excluding the one time charge of US$18.0 million
related to the acquisition of InterCon Systems Corp.
Expenses related to the acquisition of Whitetree
Communications, which closed on April 1, 1997, are not

CASCADE REPORTS Q197 RESULTS
Cascade Communications reported quarterly revenues of
US$90.3 million, an increase of 61% over the same period
last year, but a decline of 18% from the previous quarter.
Including a one time charge of US$213.1 million associated
with the acquisition of Sahara Networks, Cascade reported a
net loss of US$198.3 million, or US$2.13 per share.
Excluding the charge, net income was US$14.8 million, or
US$0.15 per share. On March 30, Ascend announced its plans
