BENTONVILLE, Ark., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT - news), reported record sales for the third quarter of $40,432,000,000 and sales of $113,619,000,000 for the nine months ended October 31, 1999, representing increases of 21% and 17%, respectively, over the same prior year periods.
Net income for the fiscal quarter of $1,299,000,000, or $0.29 per share, was up 29% from $1,009,000,000 or $0.23 per share, as reported in the same quarter in the prior year. Net income for the nine months increased 27% to $3,658,000,000, or $0.82 per share, as compared with $2,871,000,000, or $0.64 per share, for the corresponding nine months of last year. |
