why do you automatically assume that manipulation of a stock's price can be accomplished only by deployment of capital?> Any real manipualtion of a stock's price should not be of any concern to one who posseses the ability to value financial assets. If the price is excessive do not purchase it, if it is undervalued, do purchase it. It is possible to manipulate certain assets, capital deployment being the most obvious, but the opacity or transparancy of the pricing structures and the availability of information serves to cause equilibirum throughout the market. Price manipulation shuldnot even be a toopic for true investors, only traders.
