Lately though, given what has happened during the past 6 months, Intel seems to be less competitive when it's being distracted by its "dot com" pursuits.
They just need to be kept from trying to affect 3rd party transactions (ie. if you deal with our competitors, we won't deal with you). If Intel would stop trying to affect the relationship between AMD and VIA, for example, and focus on developing better products instead, we'd all be better off.
Don't you think your mental energy might be better channeled toward advice for you favorite, AMD? I think Intel is doing OK; one bit of evidence might be lack of complaints from their stockholders here. AMD, OTOH, seems to be cutting loose divisions, like Vantis that will pay dividends for their buyer. LLTC. They were allowed to wither while with AMD, but LLTC will make good use of them. Anything for the holy war vs. Intel, that's the mantra at 1 AMD Place. LLTC, chart, e.g.:
