He died in his sleep at 4 a.m. His wife was there. His nieces and nephew had all reached out in one way or another, as had their children.

Like all of us, he had his faults; but he was an extraordinarily good man. He brought out goodness in the people around him.

I've mentioned this before in the debates about religion: He was the kind of person that should typify people of faith. He didn't preach his religious beliefs; instead he simply lived them out in daily life.
