This puzzles me also. Perhaps it is just the hype. CMGI, to me, has the better business model and strategy e.g. they own a majority (70% - 100%)stake in many of their investments (e.g. engage, navisite, altavista) and have much more operational, internet savy, technical knowledge to create the leverage. ICGE seems to have less stake (30% to 50%) in their key holdings. Although 30% is good, is that really enough to get any clout on leverage issues? The background and interests of management teams of these companies seem to reflect these differences also. These are my reasons for being long on CMGI (I also like my shares of engage and navisite and look forward to other DSP).
