KETCHUM, Idaho, Nov 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas Gillespie, president and
chief executive officer of Aqua Vie Beverage Corporation
(OTC Bulletin Board: AVBC) announced today that the company has begun
production for an initial order from Associated Food Stores (New York),
valued at $2.4 million, in conjunction with an Eastern seaboard product launch
of Aqua Vie's single-serve Hydrator(TM) line slated for January 2000.
According to a spokesman for Associated, Aqua Vie's product launch in January
is being orchestrated to optimize product exposure and acceptance in
Associated's distribution area, which includes the entire U.S. eastern
seaboard and points south. January, together with July/August, is
traditionally when Associated, and the bottled water industry generally,
experiences the greatest number of unit sales. Radio and point-of-purchase
regional promotions coincident with the launch are planned.
"We are delighted to be working with Associated Food Stores, whose
influence in the New York area market, and whose ability to move product, is
nearly legendary," said Gillespie. "I am confident that Associated's vast
distribution network, which spans from Maine to the Caribbean, will serve Aqua
Vie exceptionally well as a strategic 'beachhead', a mission-critical
component, not only in the short term but also as we expand retail
distribution throughout the country and throughout the world," said Gillespie.
"I want to emphasize that this order represents only the first foray into a
lucrative market that is known to be thirsty."
Associated Food Stores is one of the oldest and most respected
co-operatives of independent grocery stores in New York. Its distribution
network includes approximately 180 independently owned stores in the New York
metropolitan area, including Manhattan and the boroughs. Associated also
distributes throughout the eastern United States select and featured products
to an additional 1,000 retail grocery stores encompassed by the distribution
reach of the White Rose Food Division the DiGiorgio Corporation.

flavored, still (non-carbonated) bottled spring water. The company's
