Takeovers and mergers. After reading this from a related industry and looking at their P/Es, it makes you wonder if anyone is taking a close look at American Eco and getting tempted. USA WASTE SERVICES INC (UW 35 1/4) has agreed to acquire United Waste Systems Inc. (UWST 37 5/8) in a stock swap merger valued at $1.7 billion. According to USA Waste, the combined company will have about $2.1 billion in annualized revenue and total assets of more than $4.5 billion. The company will operate 155 landfills, 270 collection companies, and 153 transfer stations, serving over three million customers in North America. UW $35 1/4 Earn/Shr = 0.24 P/E = 146.88 UWST $37 5/8 Earn/Shr = 0.88 P/E = 42.76 ECGOF $7 1/2 Earn/Shr = 0.81 P/E = 8.61
